OPA’s
Veggie Oil Project consists of collection, filtration and storage of vegetable oil as a cleaner alternative fuel to run diesel engines.
OPA operates the first vehicle running on vegetable oil in Salvador as a showcase for people to learn about this sustainable way of running their cars.
This is an up and coming innovative project that generates a new job market through the collection process and distribution of used vegetable oil from the city’s restaurants, while lessening waste and pollution.
The use of dendê palm oil in the traditional cooking of Salvador makes this city a perfect site to implement this sustainable technology since the African dendê palm is a great source of vegetable oil for fuel.
